Implementation

Promotion of the Caregivers Support Network is achieved through IPERICS. IPERICS is the IPERI Membership Card System designed to promote community-driven integrative medicine and health services.

Caregivers in Zimbabwe face numerous challenges, including physical strain, emotional stress, and lack of resources. The healthcare system, while extensive, often struggles with resource shortages and accessibility issues. By establishing a CSN, IPERI addresses these challenges and provides a structured support system for caregivers.

Why are caregivers the unsung heroes in society?

Their selflessness, resilience, and unwavering support make caregivers true heroes in our society. They play a vital role in the well-being of individuals and communities, often without the recognition they deserve. Caregivers are often considered the unsung heroes in society for several reasons:

Dedication and sacrifice

Caregivers devote countless hours to looking after their loved ones, often at the expense of their own personal time, careers, and social lives.

  • Emotional and physical strain the role of a caregiver can be incredibly demanding, both emotionally and physically. Caregivers manage the stress of seeing a loved one in pain or decline, while also performing physically taxing tasks like lifting, bathing, and feeding
  • Lack of recognition Despite their crucial role, caregivers often receive little to no recognition for their efforts. Their work is done behind the scenes, without the accolades or acknowledgment that other professions might receive

Financial burden

many caregivers face significant financial challenges, as they may need to reduce their working hours or leave their jobs entirely to provide care. This can lead to financial strain and insecurity.

  • Emotional Support Caregivers provide not just physical care, but also emotional support. They offer comfort, companionship, and a sense of stability to those they care for, which is invaluable.
  • Impact on Health The stress and demands of caregiving can take a toll on the caregiver's own health. Despite this, they continue to provide care out of love and commitment.
  • Advocacy and Coordination

Caregivers often act as advocates for their loved ones, navigating complex healthcare systems, coordinating medical appointments, and ensuring that their loved ones receive the best possible care
