HIV Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics Research Training (HIV-RT)
University at Buffalo –HIV-Research Training (HIV-RT) Partnership.
The UB-UZ HIV-RT established a postgraduate fellowship training initiative to conduct clinical and translational pharmacology research in Zimbabwe. The University at Buffalo (UB) and University of Zimbabwe (UZ) faculty provide mentored training with a focus on current and investigational drug treatment and the clinical pharmacology expertise to integrate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve research goals for Zimbabwe and other southern African countries and build research capacity. The program supports graduate students and postdoctoral fellows completing research at the University of Zimbabwe Center of Excellence in Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, a lab focused on drug development and clinical pharmacology training.
Research Training
The HIV Research Training (HIV RT) program trains pre- and post-doctoral researchers in HIV clinical pharmacology to advance prevention and treatment strategies. It builds on integrating mentorship, community engagement, and partnerships to address emerging therapies and public health priorities in Zimbabwe.

See moreProvide a HIVRT for pre-doctoral and post-doctoral trainees that increases the number of researchers with independent, funded programs with a focus on HIV clinical pharmacology and therapeutics and regional public health priorities including COVID-19
Mentor HIVRT Clinical Pharmacology scholars in team science that includes others with expertise in pharmaceutical bioanalysis, biomedical informatics, data sciences, genomics, and microbiome, and traditional herbal medicines
Foster community support group engagement to participate in innovative research to study novel HIV clinical pharmacology and therapeutics strategies for prevention and treatment and investigate long-acting antiretrovirals and monoclonal antibodies and traditional medicines
Provide an HIVRT that fosters smart academic-public-private partnerships aimed at addressing sustainable developmental goals.
